Listen To Marcus Marr And Chet Fakers Birthday Card

December 2024 · 1 minute read

If you feel like it’s strange to hear a Chet Faker song with a four-four house beat, well, that’s because it is – but in the case of “Birthday Card,” you can probably go ahead and attribute that part of the production to Marcus Marr. The two electronic music artists must have left off with some unfinished business after last month’s “The Trouble With Us,” because it took them no time at all to follow up on it.

The wonky bass line and echoey atmospheric synths immediately give the track a club appeal peculiar to Faker’s usual releases. The groove of the track builds up into a melodic upswing, and Faker’s characteristically drowsy singing style almost seems to cascade over the rest of the arrangement like a meandering raincloud.
